Dr. Gabriel Kofi Nzulu
Geologist
Among his major professional achievements is his leadership role in exploration projects with Asante Gold Corporation as the exploration project manager, where he led geology and geophysics teams from 2012 to 2020. During this period, he contributed to the discovery of high-grade gold deposits at the Fahiakoba, Betenase, and Sraha Prospects in Ghana. He also played a key role in the Kubi Mining Project, serving as a member of the exploration team that successfully located and finalized ore body targets through geological mapping, geophysical surveys, sampling, and logging activities.
Dr. Nzulu was also among the leading exploration professionals involved in the Obotan Project in Ghana in 2011 as a senior geologist, where he supervised and managed resource drilling activities. His contribution helped identify an additional 2.2 million ounces of gold resources within the project area. Furthermore, he participated in the regional exploration program of PMI Gold Corporation, contributing to the confirmation of the 513 Ore Zone at the Kubi Gold Project and the discovery of an additional 500,000 ounces of gold resources through extensive drilling and geological logging operations.
Academically and professionally, Dr. Nzulu has demonstrated strong expertise in advanced mineralogical and geochemical research. He completed his PhD in Material Science with a focus on Geology at Linköping University and has conducted extensive research on gold pathfinder minerals, hydrothermal quartz alteration, and geochemical behavior of ore-associated minerals. His work integrates sophisticated analytical techniques such as XRD, XRF, XPS, EDX-SEM, TEM, EXAFS, and XANES for mineral characterization and exploration studies. He holds a master’s degree in physics, postgraduate certificates in computer science (informatics), business administration, renewable energy, and a BSc in Geology and physics. Dr. Nzulu has also contributed significantly to scientific literature through multiple peer-reviewed publications in respected international journals. His research focuses on gold pathfinder minerals, mineral alteration processes, geochemical analysis, and materials science. His publications have enhanced understanding of gold mineralization processes and advanced mineral exploration methodologies, particularly within Ghana’s Birimian gold belts. In addition to his technical expertise, Dr. Nzulu possesses strong leadership and project management skills. He has managed exploration budgets, supervised multidisciplinary teams, ensured QA/QC compliance, trained junior geologists and technicians, and prepared technical reports and exploration proposals for mining operations. His ability to integrate geology, geophysics, geochemistry, and laboratory research has positioned him as a respected professional in both the mining industry and academic research community. His professional vision is to advance geoscience innovation and contribute to the growth of Ghana’s mining and natural resource sector through research, education, and sustainable exploration practices.
